The Fate of the Edsel & Other Business Adventures, by John Brooks

19 Sep 2014

I read this book since Bill Gates recommended it, but the only story I enjoyed was about the Edsel. The collection of stories felt like it was written for a casual news magazine (or like a Salon article), and seemed very disconnected. The language was different than I am used to, and seemed stylized to the time in which it was written. It seemed casual and conversational like a story told over cigars and evening martinis.

The last story, about Brooks’ visit to London to visit the LSE and Lloyd’s read like some random Facebook travelog.
